In his recent newsletter ?Happy Kids?, parenting expert Michael Grose (yes he is an expert with three kids of his own) said:
Should The Dad-To-Be Attend The Birth?
Not so long ago a dad-to-be would pace up and down outside the labor room and would be admitted only after the birth. Modern practice is to assume the dad-to-be should be at the birth to offer support. But an increasing number of dads, moms and midwives would prefer he stayed outside.
Twins - Double The Trouble Or Double The Pleasure? Both!
If You're Having Twins..is it double the headache, or double the joy? Probably both!
The ABCs of Raising Twins
As a mother of two sets of fraternal boy/girl twins, I am often asked, ?How do you do it?? I do not have an answer. I am just a regular 27 year old who has never known it any other way. Most people come home from the hospital with one baby. I , however, always seem to come out with a pair. Through my experiences, I feel that there is no such answer. Each child is a unique gift with their own personality, likes, dislikes, and own sense of self. I have no master plan. I deal with each moment as it comes and try to remember that these are the best days of my life. There are moments, I must admit, that I feel like my day will never end and my own personal identity is withering away. A smile or hug from my children washes this feeling away. I am a mother chosen for this great adventure and I press on.
Using Pocket-money To Promote Independence In Kids
In seminars I am often asked about pocket-money and whether it should be earned or only given when children behave well.

Anorexia Nervosa Alert - is Your Daughter Dying To Be Thin?
Anorexia nervosa is a serious medical disorder that is statistically most prevalent in the adolescent teenage years of young women. It is estimated that 7% of the population suffers from eating disorders and if left untreated over 20% of them will die from it. Anorexia takes the lives of children everyday in this world and there are things you can do as a parent to identify anorexic behaviors and intervene to protect your children.
The Post-Holiday Blues In Stepfamilies

disappointment--and post-holiday blues, says Susan Wisdom, a
licensed professional counselor and co-author of

Small Children, Languages and Myths
Our children are growing up bilingual in the French part of Canada ? Québec. ?That?s fine?, says everyone. ?Even though they?ll probably start speaking later because they?re learning two languages at once, they?ll catch up.?
The Symtoms Of Meningitis And Septicaemia

Paediatric Osteopathy
All babies cry, but if yours cries a lot, isn't sleeping or is just plain irritable, many parents have found that a paediatric osteopath can help, particularly if the birth was difficult.
Registering a Birth in Scotland
The child's mother or father should register the birth within 21 days. However, a father who is not married to the child's
mother can only register a birth and be named on the birth certificate as the father if:
he jointly signs the register with the mother, or
a court has declared that he is the father, or
the mother and he jointly sign a declaration available from
the Registrar.
How Well Do You Know Your Child?
Do you think you really know your child? I don't mean know what he/she likes and doesn't like, but to know him/her well enough to understand his/her challenges, to appreciate his/her strengths and weaknesses and to help him/her develop his talents. Knowing your children can help increase their chance for success in the future and improve your relationship.
Baptisms And Alternative Ways To Hold A Naming Ceremony
There are three types of service available at a Church.
The traditional Infant Baptism (which most people call a 'christening'), here the parents declare the child to be a follower of Jesus Christ;
A service of Dedication, when the parents make promises about the upbringing of their child - these services are common in Baptist churches; andA Thanksgiving for the Gift of a Child, a service of Blessing which is based on what Jesus did when children were brought to Him. This service is increasingly popular in the Church of England as parents are less inclined to make promises on the child's behalf that he or she may not wish to keep later in life.
Many parents don't go to church themselves and don't want to have their child named in a church service. There are alternatives.You can hold a family gathering at your own home or a hired venue near home at which the baby is named. You can do this yourself, have a senior member of the family perform the naming, or bring someone in to hold a formal ceremony.The Baby Naming Society will help you to put on a religious or non-religious ceremony. For less than £30, they will provide:
A personalised script from a choice of ceremonies;
A short programme which can be copied for your guests;
A certificate for you to keep as a memento of the service;Copies of readings chosen from the Society's selection.

Parenting Your Teenager: Of Course You Can Search Your Teens Room
Q. We recently caught our son smoking pot, and we wonder whether he's doing more stuff. Others say, "Don't invade his privacy because you will lose his trust." What do you think we should do?

They Call it Puppy Love
My son is 6 yrs old.
He came home the other day from school and stated that he had two girlfriends.
I asked him who they were.
And he said one was in his class and the other was in the other Kindergarten class.
He said one of them asked him to be her boyfriend, and the other he just liked, so she was his girlfriend too.
He liked her so he assumed she was his girlfriend too.
Why Do People Have Kids?
Despite the theory that people have kids because they want and have planned for a family; the truth is that most people have kids because a woman gets pregnant. That is about the only reason. Did you know that 75% of all children in the United States are born out of wedlock and that the number is increasing each and every year? And folks these numbers are just in the United States, the world average is much higher. Only 50% of the kids in this country live in a household with two parents.
